Rickshaw Loves NYC
Hurricane Sandy is gone but there are still people in need. After moving about 20,000 dumplings from our 23rd street store/commissary up to our 45th street location on October 31st we turned the trucks around and got them out onto the frontlines of Hurricane Sandy. We initially handed out dumplings ourselves out of our pockets to help our fellow New Yorkers but were soon faced with a quickly dwindling supply of dumplings as our commissary was not making any for 7 days.
New York based sponsors stepped in and partnered with us to enable us to continue to feed hot meals to New Yorkers in need. These large corporate sponsors and individuals not only were able to feed folks in Staten Island and the Rockaways they also showed support for small businesses such as Rickshaw and the other trucks they sponsored.
It was amazing when we realized that trucks were perfectly suited to get into affected areas and serve hot meals quickly.
Dumplings for victims and volunteers.
We would like to thank the sponsors that have enabled us to feed over 3,000 hot meals in Hurricane Sandy affected areas.
